Oops, I guess I must have read that wrong. This is the actual subhead from the fascist propaganda “opinion” piece running in today’s Wall Street Journal. (It’s paywalled, but the teaser you get at the link is sufficient to tell you the tone of the piece.)
Biden has double-crossed Senate Republicans on the infrastructure bill by caving to the left.
For the life of me, I can’t remember the time the WSJ ever pretended to care what Democrats thought of republican policy when Trump, a Bush, or Reagan was President. But now, Biden is “betraying” republicans — not his own party — by pursuing a plan that 66% of Americans want, including 39% of republicans and 61% of independents.Nor have they ever accused a republican president of “caving” to the racist, fascist wing of their own party. In fact, the GOP is now controlled entirely by the racist, fascist wing of their dangerously wackadoodle Trumpian cult.
To the Wall Street Journal, a Democratic President who fails to obey the diktats of the neo-fascist GOP is a “Betrayer.”
Interestingly, they are tongue-bathing Joe Manchin in the process of attacking Biden.
Manchin Nails the Progressive Hostage Strategy
That is the headline in the WSJ fascist propaganda piece. Strange that the WSJ fascist propaganda opinion page, bastion of republican fanboi puff pieces is now lauding a Democrat. Why is that? Could it be that Manchin is doing the GOP’s dirty work and bending over backward to help the GOP portray Democrats as being in “disarray?” Could it be that the only thing separating Manchin from the GOP is not ideological, but merely the risible (D) after his name? Could it be that the only “betrayal” going on here is that being perpetrated by Manchin and his fellow GQP traveler, Kyrsten Sinema?
The reality is that the Democrats are in solid agreement on Biden’s Build Back Better plan. The ONLY thing in “disarray” is two Quisling“Democrats” who have sold their souls to the neo-fascist GOP.
Is the progressive wing of the Democratic Party flexing its muscles? Sure. Why shouldn't they? They are DEMOCRATS. They have every right to try to influence DEMOCRATIC policy. Especially when that policy is favored by 2/3 of all American voters. Manchin and Sinema are NOT pursuing Democratic policy agendas because 66% of Americans and 99% of Democrats don’t want the warmed-over republican bullshit they are selling. But stabbing Democrats and America in the back is enough to warrant the WSJ doing a puff piece on Manchin’s pusillanimous betrayal.
The reality is that Manchin and Sinema are providing cover to the GOP who, if the GOP held power in the Senate, would be taking heat for obstructing an enormously popular Democratic initiative. Instead, thanks to Manchin and Sinema, the press can happily and lazily report their stock tale of, “Democrats in disarray,” while the GOP sits back and cackles and America, literally, goes down in flames. And hurricanes, and structural collapse, and poverty, and violence. None of which the GOP has any idea, or plan, or desire, to address.
This is America.
